Employee Spotlight
At Generations, we have many outstanding employees. Our very first employee spotlight will feature an incredible person, Minerva “Minnie” Rodriguez, RN, Assistant Director of Nursing at our Vernon facility.
Minnie has been employed with us for almost 5 years. She’s intelligent, dependable, loyal, trustworthy, and fun! She champions the company’s values and is dedicated to her work. She cares about our residents and fellow employees. Minnie has a unique gift of bringing comfort and peace to all who she serves. She’s the “Swiss Army knife” of our facility!
“I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I moved to Alabama in 2012. We moved when my husband retired as a detective from the NYPD. We have 3 sons. The two eldest graduated from the University of Alabama. Our youngest is a senior in high school and is seeking admission into a nursing program.
We found Winfield, AL after my cousin moved down when we also retired! We fell in love with the peace and quiet, the pace of life, the lack of traffic, the friendliness of the people, AND you have chickens, cows and a whole lot more animals to love! We tell everyone, “we found our Mayberry!”
I have been a Registered Nurse for 27 years. I’ve worked in a Beth Israel Medical Center in New York for 10 years. I’ve worked over 10 years in home health nursing. I’ve worked as a school nurse, and now as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Generations of Vernon.
I’ve been asked why I travel 45 minutes to work when there are hospitals and other long-term care facilities right in my own neighborhood. My answer to them is my co-workers! They took a chance on me; they let this “new girl” in. I can’t, nor will I, let them down! My co-workers have truly become an extension of my family. We laugh together, cry together, grieve together, work hard together, and truly care for one another! Generations, staff, and residents truly have my heart! — Minnie Rodriguez
“She is a wonderful person!” — Resident, Faye H.
“She is the best! She comes in the door with a big smile and a Puerto Rican dance! She greets us with a big hug and says, ‘How ya doing’ every day. She is tough as nails and means what she says. We are so lucky to have her.” — Co-Worker, Brenda F.
